Saturday was such a hype day. Sunshine, great temps... so much goodness. Then I wake up Sunday and it's rained all night and now it's cooler. I think to myself, "This day could get away from me quickly." With that truth, I decided to flip the script and start with greatness in mind. I had a great meditation and morning stretch, calmed the mind and let the positive vibes flow more naturally. That's when I decided to change my intention for the day and put together a #filthy playlist for the 11:30 am Modo Flow.
We had 60 strong in there working hard. Our work was rooted in this dope ass quote:
“We either make ourselves miserable,
or we make ourselves strong.
The amount of work is the same.”

On The Mat
60 Minutes Modo Flow, it's gonna be challenging, the heat will get deep, the humidity will rise, and boom, just like that the class can get away from you. What I mean here is that our mind can start to put up a lot of obstacles, it can create resistance that isn't there. We can make ourselves miserable. Complaining about the person next to that might smell funky, frustrated at the 'loud breather', still swearing about the 'stupid parking lot'. We can make our practice miserable. OR, we can make ourselves STRONG. I love those two words, "WE CAN." Meaning we have the ability to make ourselves strong. We have the ability to make ourselves more peaceful. We have the ability to use our breath and movement to create space for both.
Set to some sick tracks, "WE" made ourselves strong yesterday morning. I am so humbled to share in this work.
Off The Mat
At work, in traffic, at home... YOU can make yourself miserable....OR... you can make yourself strong. The amount of work is the same. Here is the amazing thing, you can (as in you have the ability) allow what annoys you or frustrates you to wake you up to new strength. When the mind drifts to 'this is miserable', it can be our WAKE UP reminder. In my Dharma studies my teacher Poep Sa would call it your 'bell of mindfulness.' We can practice this daily and nurture new growth everyday.
