Even The Ground Is Groundless

February 12, 2015 Phil Doucette

Been re-reading this sick book from Michael Stone called Awake In The World.  A collection of many of his Dharma Talks on the journey we take in Yoga.  For real, I could lay down intention after intention from this goodness.  This morning's Modo Flow I drew some vibes from Chapter One.  Mic Check this excerpt:

“Even the ground is groundless. The ground we stand on is always moving, and new actions are always required. Every time we arrive at a new viewpoint, the conditions change, and we must once again tune in to what is under our feet. The possibility opens, in this groundless ground, to move through the world with love and lucidity. Love becomes both the perceptive quality of awareness and the motivating force behind our actions”

As we moved through Modo Flow Series A, we kept returning to this truth that 'even the ground is groundless.'  Everything in constant change and as move move on this earth are a part of the change.  Our Yoga practice invites to be very deliberate in the change we want to create.

As we got to different places in the practice, or a 'new viewpoint', I invited the students over and over again to 'tune in to what is under their feet and hands.'  The truth is it takes hard work to return and tune back in.  But these students today we're committed to this work.

It is so inspiring and humbling to be part of this work with people.

But this yoga practice continues off the mat. When our 'view point' is anger, we can tune in and see what's underneath the anger. If our viewpoint is jealousy, we can tune in and see what's underneath the jealousy. Even the ground is groundless.
